Who is eligible for volunteering?  

 


If your visa allows you to work in the UK, or fits within the following categories, you may be able to volunteer during your time at university:

  • Standard visitors can volunteer for up to 30 days only within a registered charity
  • Asylum seekers can only volunteer for a regiatered charity, voluntary or public sector organisation
  • People with refugee status or exceptional leave to remain and their family members are allowed to volunteer

You should be aware of your immigration statu and whether you are allowed to volunteer. Please note that volunteering is different from unpaid employment (voluntary work). For more information, contact the Student Immigration Service or refer to their guidance here.
